The things people will do so they don't have to hang out with me

I'm training for a 5K. Yes, I do realize how pathetic it is that I have to train to run 3.2 miles but that is my reality. I exercise quite a bit but I just don't run long distances (not that 3 miles is a long distance) - until now.

My friend Erica and I decided to run it together and we decided to train together - eventually moving toward training for a 1/2 marathon. This is going to be so much fun especially since the 1st 5K we signed up for is at night and there is drinking involved afterward. I will totally run to a summer brew/glass of wine/etc.

5K signed up for, running schedule and plan in place, music list downloaded to ipod, cute new shoes and running clothes, we were ready to go. Yay!

Next day, Erica broke her ankle.

See:

She did have a cute pedi going on there though, didn't she?

Geez, if she didn't want to be my running partner she just had to tell me.

  1. Ouch! That just makes me cringe. I'm sure there are much easier ways to get out of being your running partner. She could have just said it was her time of the month and she had cramps. She knows better now for next time.

  2. If you come do Jillian's Shred with me, I'll run with you. Deal? But I can only run /jog short distances. I'm slow. And I only run when it's warmer than 50 degrees and cooler than 90. SO....it's a tough situation.

  4. STOP IT! I live in Shawnee. Did you go to KU? Funny that we had to go through blogflow to bump into each other. I teach at John Paul II on the corner of 71st and Metcalf (oh and I love the Blue Moose). Small world.

    Following you now!

  5. Mungee's Ma - Yes, now she knows better for sure. There are many easier ways to get out of running with me - faking an exercise allergy for one...

Erin, I'm afraid of Jillian. She might hurt me. I'm with you on the cold thing and running. I just quit my gym- what the heck am I going to do in the winter??? I guess sit on the couch and eat ice cream would be the best plan.

Thanks Deana. I can take no credit in the design of my blog other than I picked it out :)

Thanks Jenny - I just answered your questions on your blog. I never know how to do that. Do I answer here? Do I answer there? I'm such a dork.

  6. Hi Robin! Found you on blog flow.

I had a baby four months ago and I've been itching to start running again. Right now I'm walking several miles a day. But I'd like to run a few as well. The problem is that when my hubby gets home from work, he wants to go for a run or bike ride. So by the time both of us go, we barely get to hang out. (We often just go on a walk together).

I'd prefer to run during the day, and I have a great BOB jogging stroller with the infant car seat adaptor, but baby isn't that into it. She loves going outside, but she prefers to be held or "worn" in the Angelpack. Hopefully this will change soon!

Anyways. I'm totally inspired when I see other mamas take the time to run. I'm glad I found your blog. Following! Hope you enjoyed my novel ;)

  8. Hi Robin. I am "trying" to run too. Too bad you don't live close by. We could train together. I am now following my fellow okie.

  9. Lucy, that is my kind of novel! I never have time to read, so I'm down with the short and sweet kind. I'm with you, I'd like to exercise during the day because the night gets too hectic. But now that it is like 1,000 degrees in Kansas that sucks!

Dr. Heckle, I saw your face and I like it. Not as much as I like the hot chick jean jacket though.

Lori, my Okie friend! I would so love a new training partner!
